Gandhi For Children
In May of 2008, the Institute was founded in the United States by Arun Gandhi, grandson of M.K. Gandhi. Arun and his late wife, Sunanda, spent almost 30 years in India working with friends to rescue, find homes for, and develop economic programs that successfully changed the lives of thousands of abandoned children.children. The result of their efforts are now communicated in three key principles, which guide Arun’s continued work: SARVODAYA– the “Welfare of All Citizens”, a Wide Education Focus—providing educational programs encompassing both practical and vocational training, as well as Gandhian philosophical teachings, and Family Involvement—offering family members insight into the necessity of their children’s education, and giving them the tools to combat the issues that perpetuate the cycle of poverty.
The Institute, a registered 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization, is headquartered in Wauconda, IL.
