Bracelet created by: Murphy Family
We called this bracelet Poppy in memory of a man who lived by the code of the greatest generation. Bob Murphy graduated from the Naval Academy in Annapolis in 1950 and served proudly as a Marine in the Korean War. After serving serving his country he embarked on a career in the clothing industry where he developed innovative manufacturing technology that brought new levels of efficiency to production for some the countries largest clothing brands. He married his wife and sweet heart Molly and together they raised 5 girls and was later blessed with 9 grandchildren who lovingly called him “Poppy”.
The green bead represents green grasses of the family farm in North Carolina.
The light blue bead represents his love of the water and the coast lines from Maryland to Massachusetts where he lived and vacationed with his family.
The middle beads navy and gold represent the colors of the midshipmen at the Naval Academy where he learned the values of hard work, integrity , love of country, love of family and perseverance.
Poppy is now resting at the Naval Academy Columbarium along the College Creek and Severn River. We will always love you Poppy!
