Pan-Mass Challenge/Team Riverside Rockets
We are Team Riverside Rockets, a group of 24 cyclists who use our passion for cycling to make a difference in the fight against cancer. Each one of our members has a story, whether its the loss of a parent, a friend, a loved one or a personal battle with cancer, our lives have been touched by this disease. We formed this team because we know by riding and fundraising together, we can make a difference in others lives affected by cancer. The 2 day – 200 mile ride covers 46 communities in Massachusetts from Sturbridge to Provincetown, with 5,500 riders the 2013 PMC raised $39,000,000 for adult & pediatric patient care and cancer research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. This event takes place the first weekend in August, it does not simply happen with riders but a force of volunteers and organizers who are every bit as committed to finding a cure. So much goes on behind the scenes to make this magic event happen, some additional fun facts about the PMC would be …… approximately 250,000 Donations, 1.5 million in matching gifts, 1,400 pounds of peanut butter & 12,000 bananas consumed, 26,000 pints of harpoon beer poured, 55 tons of luggage transported, 800,000 cumulative miles traveled, 30 road crew vans and 3400 volunteers!
